Labradorite is over 1.3 billion years old, but was first discovered and named by German missionaries who moved to Northern Labrador in the 1700s.
Inuit legend claims that labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the Northern lights. A wandering Inuit warrior found the imprisoned light and was able to free it with a mighty blow from his spear. Some of the glimmering aurora was still trapped within the stone, leaving the beautiful mineral known as labradorite. It is a stone of magic, a crystal of shamans, diviners, and healers.
